Calibration Standards

Calibration standards document the reference standards and reference instruments used during a calibration. Traceability to recognized standards is a central requirement of ISO 17025.

Overview

One or more standards can be assigned to each calibration operation. The standards reference inventories that are maintained as reference standards in the system.

Columns

Column Field Description
Inventory Number C2430 Inventory number (MTAG) of the reference standard used.
CTAG CTAG Unique identifier of the associated calibration operation.
MTAG MTAG Inventory number of the calibrated device.
Device Identifier I4201 Internal device identifier of the reference standard (from inventory).
Manufacturer I4202 Manufacturer of the reference standard (from inventory).
Model I4203 Model designation of the reference standard (from inventory).
Serial Number I4204 Serial number of the reference standard (from inventory).
Next Calibration duedate Due date of the next calibration of the reference standard.

The columns I4201--I4204 are automatically displayed via the link to the inventory and are filterable.

Typical Workflows

  • Assignment During Calibration: When creating a calibration, the reference standards used are assigned as standards.
  • Traceability: Through the link to the inventory, the reference standard used and its own calibrations can be reached. calServer V1 does not follow further steps of the chain up to the national standard; they follow from the calibration certificates of the standards.
  • Due date: The list shows today's due date of the reference standard, not its calibration status on the day it was used. calServer V1 does not check whether the standard was valid at the time of calibration; calServer V2 records this status on assignment.

Technical Notes

Inventory Link

Standards reference existing inventories in the system. The field C2430 contains the inventory number (MTAG) of the reference standard.

Validity Check

Expired or uncalibrated reference standards can compromise the validity of the performed calibration. Regularly check the calibration status of the standards in use.

  • The assignment is made per calibration operation (CTAG) and calibrated device (MTAG).
  • Standards can be added or removed via the calibration detail view.
  • Deletion requires the inventory_details_calibrations_standards_delete permission.
  • The display is configurable via the field management.
